Lewis Albert Ware went home to the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Lewis was born on October 21, 1940 near Jerusalem, Arkansas, but his family moved to Texas, to
the Copperas Cove area while he was just a toddler. By 1947, they had settled in Waco, where
Lewis spent most of his life.

As young boys growing up, Lewis and his older brother, Doyle, helped with most of the household
chores, as more children were born into the family that eventually included 7 kids. He was very
handy in the kitchen and helped with the cooking as well as working in the garden. Along with
his brothers, he worked for a neighboring farmer, chopping and picking cotton before going to
work at Bolfing Grocery Store during his years at Connally High School. He never went without a
job of some sort, doing yardwork if necessary, until finding regular employment.

Lewis eventually became a truck driver and drove for Owens Sausage Company for 10 years.
For the remainder of his career he delivered mobile homes all over the country. Most of those
years he spent driving for Bennett Trucking and Transport. He loved to drive, and during his
40-plus years as a truck driver, he had only one minor accident. He finally retired from driving
a few years ago due to his deteriorating health. Lewis was a kindhearted man who exhibited
generosity and love in everything he did. His gentle nature and unwavering support touched
the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his compassionate spirit and
willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, as well as for being the best dad, papa,
brother, uncle and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever
be cherished by those whose lives he touched.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Anver and Oleta Ware, brothers Andy and
Jerry Ware, and sister Dale Beckham. Survivors include Becky Aguilar-Ware, brother
Doyle Ware, sisters Carol Campbell and Martha Janeke; his children, Kerrie Davidson
and Tim Ware, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
