April 3, 1950 - March 20, 2024

Kenneth Wayne Fickel, 73, of Hewitt TX died on March 20, 2024 at Baylor Scott & White Waco after a short illness.

Ken was born on April 3, 1950 in Waco TX to parents William and Juanita (Tedford) Fickel. He graduated from Waco High in 1969 where he met the love of his life, Alinda Kocian. Excited to start their lives together, they married on March 6, 1971 in Waco.

Ken was a retired Air Force veteran. He served during Desert Storm. He loved his country and serving it to the fullest. He retired as a Tech Sargent in September 1993. After his retirement he moved back to Waco and worked at the City of Waco for an additional 20 years. However, his greatest job and promotion was the rank of Pap-Paw. His grandkids were his pride and joy.

Ken was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Alinda (Kocian) Fickel; parents William and Juanita Fickel; one sister Sandra Rodgers; brothers Gary and Billy Fickel.

Ken is survived by his children, Donna (Mike) Hislope of Hewitt TX, Diana (Dusty) Leutwyler of Cushing TX and David (Meg) Fickel of Sanger TX. And his 6 grandchildren Logan, Dalton, Kaleb, Rayleigh Leutwyler, Casyn and Bryce Hislope. He is also survived by his most
beloved sister, Joan Dulus of Gholson Tx. and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Cassie with Accent Care for always taking care of our Dad. Especially when he was being bullheaded and stubborn. You always had his best interest in mind and he always enjoyed your visits.

To the Doctor's and nursing staff at Baylor Scott and White - 6th floor South. You were so attentive to his needs and comfort to the very end. We appreciate the support.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 25 at Bellmead Funeral Home in Bellmead TX from 6pm to 8pm.

On March 26 at 10am at Waco Memorial Cemetery, we will celebrate his life with a graveside service, including a full military honor.
