On Friday, August 6, 2021, Thomas "Tom" Boyd Douglas, loving husband, father, uncle, passed away at the age of 80 in Lacy Lakeview, Texas.

Tom was born on August 6, 1941 in Bellmead, Texas to William Thomas "WT" and Doris (January) Douglas. He received his Bachelor & Masters degrees in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin. After Graduation he worked for the IRS in Washington DC and Austin. In 1966 he began working for Texaco as an accountant in Houston, TX where he retired as a supervisor in the Gas Producing Department in 1999. He also retired from the United States Air Force Reserves as a Lt. Colonel with 20 years of service. On June 7, 1969, he married Mary Ann Michna and they raised a son, John and a daughter, Dory. After retirement he operated and managed the family's rental properties in Lacy Lakeview, Texas.

Tom was a sports enthusiast, loved his Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. He enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino and the ever present cigar. He also collected Texaco memorabilia and enjoyed vegetable gardening. And as a retired accountant supervisor, he insisted on doing his own taxes and "supervising" family and friends in life, out of concern and love. He was generous to his family and to others he met.

Tom was preceded in death by his father WT, his mother Doris, brothers William C Douglas, Raymond C Douglas, sister Jeanette Simoneaux, sister-in-law Dorothy, brother-in-law Johnny, nephew Ricky.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of 52 years, his two children John and Dory, sisters-in-law Joanne and Mary Lou, nieces, nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 14th, 2021 at the Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel at 10 o'clock a.m.

To the Family of Thomas Douglas,
I happened upon Thomas' obit on Legacy; I had not been aware that he had passed away. He was ahead of me during our Connally High School years, but I always remember his great intellect and his dependability and his deep involvement in school activities. I was not surprised at what he accomplished after high school. I offer my condolences to all of his family. May he rest in peace.

Tom was a loyal friend and I depended a lot on his advice about life and business. He always had my back and he will be missed…RIP old friend.

    Tom,

I remember the hot summer days when you, RC, and I played ball in your Dad's vacant lot on Pecan. You always hated it when someone got a hit, especially little brother, RC. You seemed to always tag him just a little harder than necessary. RC, Dan Burnette, you and I bowled at the Westview Lanes on weekends some. You usually beat us but we were all pretty well matched. As I recall, you was not always a gracious loser, especially to RC. We played HORSE in your yard. I think you got tired of beating me at basketball. We worked on the school paper together. You was the editor and I helped with some typing at times. It seems like I messed up quite a few stencils (the paper was mimeographed in those days).

Our little class of '59 Connally Cadets is fading away. It is good to stop and remember the days when we were all together.

    R.I.P. Tom,

    Don Pilant
