Arlene Ann Guthorle, of West, Texas, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at Providence Hospice Place in Waco.

Arlene was born April 27, 1940 in St. Louis, MO to Paul and Anna (Sommer) Wetzel. In 1964 she was married to Ralph Guthorle and had two children. Being a person of many interests, Arlene was a member of the Audubon Society, participating in the annual bird counts. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary. After retirement her and husband, Ralph traveled the United States, RVing. If traveling with Arlene, trips often took much longer because she had to stop and read each historical marker, without fail. One of her favorite memories was a trip they took to the Dakota's where she fell in love with the wild mustangs. Her description of them crossing the plains in the fog ridden early morning was so vivid, you felt like you had witnessed it yourself. Another favorite travel spot was Cozumel. Arlene loved learning about the Mayan culture and visited the ruins often. Books of their heritage and the ruins still rest on her bookshelf. In the most recent years, you could find Arlene on the park bench each night outside her home, visiting with her neighbors about the happenings of the day, catching up with her twin sister about the most current events or chatting with her grandchildren about what they were up to, particularly if it involved an episode of Duck Dynasty, fishing or grilling. It was a time she looked forward to and treasured each day.

Arlene was preceded in death by her mother, Anna, in 1991, her father, Paul in 1993; and her husband, Ralph Guthorle, in 2007.

Survivors include her twin sister, Darlene DeLuco and her husband, Ron of Pasadena, CA; her children, Richard McKee and his wife, Vickie of Lake Havasu, AZ and Sharon Mazanec and her husband, Jerry of Gordon, TX; her grandchildren, Christina Farrell and her husband, Roger, Samuel McKee and his wife, Julie and Jason Mazanec and his wife, Leisha; great-grandchildren, David, Leah and Jonathan Farrell; Goddaughter, Donna Hart-Miller and husband, Ed; nephew, Marcus DeLuco and his wife Leslie.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Ascension Providence Hospital and Providence Hospice Place Doctors and Staff for their care and support.

Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice Place online, www.chot.org/donate or the American Cancer Society.

  1. Darlene De Luco
You were my twin, I miss you so much. We can share stories that nobody else can understand unless you are a twin. Mom could always tell us apart but Dad never could! Our teachers never knew who was in class, we always were being confused for the other. I know you are now at peace in heaven. God is caring for you now. Much love, your twin Sis.
