Died on December 2, 2021 at The Atrium Center in Bellmead, Texas.
Wynnfred better known to most as Wympy or Wynn was born on January 27, 1941 in Falls County,Texas, the son of Wynnfred Batey and Ethel Alvey. They moved to ChalkBluff, Texas where they made their home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wynnfred and Ethel Batey, brothers Pete Batey, Dan Batey and three sisters, Evelyn Parson, Stella Stevens, Bessie Batey. Two children, a daughter, Debra K. Lindsay of Granite City, Illinois and a son, Shannon L. Batey Sr. of Mart Texas. Wynnfred is survived by two children, a daughter Elaine Ortega (Batey) and husband Roy Ortega of Robinson,

Texas and a son Wynnfred B. Batey Jr. of Axtell, Texas; grandchildren Angel Lindsay, John Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Amanda Sleeper, Kayla Ortega, Christopher Batey,Jennifer Batey, Alice Batey, Shannon Batey Jr., Josh Batey and 10 great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, close friends and neighbors.
Wynnfred was a retired Commercial Sheet Rocker for over 50 yrs.,
Wynnfred loved to tell people stories of his life and talk about his (Indian) Cherokee Heritage, which he took great pride. He loved his horses in his younger days and had retired to love deep sea fishing, his vegetable gardening, raising chickens and his two fury companions , Scooter and Venus.
He will be deeply missed by many.
