Michael "Mike" Sutherland, peacefully passed away after a short illness on Friday, March 9, 2018. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Lester Adams officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Friday, March 16, 2018 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Mike was born May 15, 1957 in Mart, Texas to Melvin and Chris (Giles) Sutherland. He was a long-haul truck driver and Pilot car driver for many years, but his true passion was driving a race car at the HOT Speedway. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his sister, Carolyn Sutherland of Hallsburg; his brothers, Terry Sutherland and wife, Teresa of Tomah, Wisconsin and George Sutherland and wife, Belinda of Georgetown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses at Providence Home Healthcare and Providence Hospice care for their care and support.

It was fun growing up in the neighborhood back then , and we all laughed ,and shared our lives in a time when you didnt have to lock your doors,windows or cars..Every mother in the neighborhood helped raise the kids,and believe me,that could be a handful.. Mike was always quick to find the good in a person, and could make you laugh,even when you didnt want to..
