Gus Fuess "Gustafson" Eckhardt Jr. of Waco, formally of San Angelo, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, October 1st, 2018. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Rosemound Cemetery with John (Senor) Perez officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Gus was born on August 5th, 1952 to Dr. Gus Fuess Eckhardt Sr and Mary Elizabeth (Fatherree) Eckhardt. He was preceded in death by his mother. Gus is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beverly Eckhardt; his father; one brother, Robert Eckhardt of San Antonio Texas; his dear friend and caregiver, John (Senor) Perez; his beloved cat, Snickers; and his many grand-kittens. Gus completed his education in the San Angelo, Texas School System. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. He will be buried with military honors at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, Texas. Gus loved nature, and made sure he kept the birds supplied with feed. He had a generous spirit, he took in many stray animals and nursed them back to health. Gus made many friends through his affiliation with the Doris Miller VA Medical Center in Waco. He will be remembered for having a warm heart and compassion for his fellow man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who were less fortunate than he.
