Margaret "Janie" Powe passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at 5:34 am at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco, Texas.
Services will be 10:00 am Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rob McDonald and Pastor Rob Finto officiating. Burial will follow at 11:45 am Saturday, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas. Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, November 22, 2019 at the funeral home.
Janie was born May 5, 1968 in Fort Worth, Texas to Jimmy and Linda Sanders. She was raised in Gainesville, Texas, and moved to Whitney, Texas where she grew up and married David Shelton. They had 2 children, David Wayne Shelton and Angila Jane Shelton both of Whitney. Janie later divorced and moved to Marlin, Texas and married Walter Powe. She took on 3 grown step-children, Kellee Powe of Marlin, Britany Powe of Corpus Christi and Walter Powe Jr. of Killeen.
Janie was a proud grandmother of 14 and loved her job of being a mother, grandmother and devoted wife. Janie worked in fast food service the first part of her life and for the last 20 years she has worked in convenience stores. She truly loved each and every job. She worked hard all her life to support her family that she clearly loved. Janie enjoyed going to the lake and parks with her family.
Janie was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Jimmy and Valeta Sanders of Whitney; her mother and step-father, Linda and Jerry Land of Whitney; and several aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Powe of Marlin; son, David Shelton and his wife Alice; daughter, Angila Shelton; sister, Shannon Conner and her husband Tommy; brothers, Roger Sanders and his wife, Kalisha and John Sanders and his wife Missie all of Whitney; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Cody Conner, Larry Ward, Patrick Conner, Josh Vaughn, Gregory Sanders and Christopher Sanders.
