Jimmy Delphine and Doloras Mary Robert

Early in the morning on Sunday, February 7, 2021, the beautiful soul of a true Southern Lady was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior. Doloras Mary Robert had been sound asleep, next to her husband, Jimmy Delphine Robert, both under the care of Baylor Scott & White's hospice team when the Lord took her home. On the morning of Saturday, February 13, 2021, her loving husband of almost 61 years could wait no longer and went to be with her once more. Jimmy and Doloras are now dancing and celebrating with their parents, his eleven brothers and sisters, step-granddaughter Brigette Brown, and many friends and family who went before to help show them the way.

Jimmy Delphine "JD" Robert was born July 31, 1936 to Joseph Orphee Robert and Olga Rosa (Pomykal) of Waco, TX, and Doloras Mary Robert was born December 28, 1939 to Emanuel Edward Sliva and Veronica Magdeline (Celusniak) of Lott, TX. Jimmy and Doloras were introduced during high school by Jimmy's niece who was friends with Doloras at Lott High School. After graduating, Doloras married Jimmy and moved to Waco, where they were blessed with two loving daughters, Stephanie Rene and Mary Jacqueline.

Jimmy, his father, and his brothers helped build St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead. He served as cantor and usher for many years and was an instrumental in forming the Knights of Columbus Council 7202 and was elected as Grand Knight for the council many times. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being with family, working in the garden and with the chickens, tinkering, grafting pecans for people all over, commentating the news, and working the daily crossword puzzles and reading funnies in the paper. Jimmy retired from Lehigh Cement after 30 plus years.

Doloras was active at their daughters' school and at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She devoted her time to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus and the Knights Ladies of the 4th Degree Assembly, often holding office as needed. She enjoyed making beautiful dresses for her daughters and granddaughter, Dulcie, making Sunday dinner, gardening, planting flowers and working in the yard, and spending time with those she loved. There wasn't a craft or recipe she could not master. Doloras made many friends over the 33 years she worked as a teller at Genco Federal Credit Union.

Jimmy and Doloras had many adventures throughout their life. When their daughters were young, they took road trips all over the country and Mexico. They also attended the annual Knights of Columbus conventions. They really enjoyed picking up their granddaughter and great granddaughter from school, taking them to practices, and keeping them while their mothers were working. Doloras always made delicious meals for family, and Jimmy would always bring things home, including strings of crappe and three live turkeys that a trucker gave him, landing him in big trouble. In his younger years, Jimmy loved riding his Harley. He would even take his mother riding, her apron flapping in the wind. Doloras didn't admit to riding with him until after her mother passed away decades later! After retirement, they were inseparable, from grocery shopping to picking up their great granddaughter, Moxie, from school. They touched so many lives, and their memory will be cherished forever.

Left to cherish their memories are their daughter Stephanie Robert, daughter and son-in-law Mary and Bobby Brown, honorary children Malcolm Norwood and Cynthia Rogers, granddaughter Dulcie Schasteen, great granddaughter Moxie Schasteen, step-grandchildren Racquel Galyean and Landon Brown, step-great grandchildren Hunter Westmoreland, Rusty Boyd, Dryver Galyean, Gage Raines, and Gavin and Gracie Hughes, and step-great great grandchild Kayson Boyd.

Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2021, at 6:00 pm with rosary led by their dear friend, Father Joy, at 7:00 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church by Father Boni on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 10:00 am followed by lunch in the parish hall. Graveside service will be afterward at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lott.
