Lawrence "Larry" Wesley Havard Sr. left this phase of life at home on Thursday, April 29, 2021.
Service will be held to celebrate his life at 2:00 pm Monday, May 3, 2021 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Monday before the service at the funeral home.
Larry was born in Prichard, Alabama on August 17, 1934 to Charles and Blanche Havard. He was married in 1957 to the love of his life, Nelda (Webb) Havard until she passed in 2009. Larry was a hard worker beginning his career in the Air Force as a Flight Mechanic and then starting his own business "Waco Aviation" through which he taught people to fly and maintained their aircraft. Later, he moved his business to the unused McGregor Airport opening the door for its present businesses. In 1967, he used his expertise to start the Aviation Program at TSTC and helped it become an FAA Certified School by writing the curriculum for all the Aviation courses. He was a proud graduate of Spartan School of Aeronautics and Texas A&M University (Master's Degree in Industrial Technology). He was recognized throughout his working career with many awards including the distinguished Charles Taylor Aircraft Mechanic Award. He loved hunting, fishing, and pulling the camper to Alaska with mom. His real legacy was his love for his Lord. He read the bible daily and tried to follow its teachings while trying to affect others with the same.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brothers, Charles and George; and his sisters, Beverly, Rita and Barbara.
He leaves behind a son, Larry Havard Jr. and his wife, Shela; daughter, Laura McMaster and her husband, Billy Joe; granddaughter, Jordan Keel; grandson, Warfield Wright; 7 great-grandchildren; his sister, Blanche Trede; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to Eastern European Missions and/or the Children's Home of Lubbock.

Waco, TX Thursday, April 29, 2021 Family, heartfelt prayers for each of you. I barely remember not knowing Larry and Nelda. What a great couple. Larry was so good about visiting the shut-ins from church. I know that momma always enjoyed his visits, prayers, and he was gracious enough to visit as long as momma wanted to talk. He was probably the best Sunday school teacher I ever held. Well done though good and faithful servant. Love always, Norma Olson Tobias, Troy Sandifer and wife Jodi and children
